On Level Math: Intro to fractions and review of decimal multiplication/division Advanced Math: Unit 6 Volume assessment Monday. Graphing and locating points using ordered pairs on the coordinate plane. Reading: Point of View in Non-fiction/informational texts. Students will take a summative on Friday to assess their knowledge of reading informational texts. Writing: Non-fiction research reports. Students will be completing and turning in their second research report due on Wednesday. Their topics were related to WWII. Social Studies: We are finishing up our current unit and students will take a summative on Wednesday that covers the following topics:
Science: We will begin our next science unit on Thursday. In this unit we will be discussing Earth's landforms and how they can be created and/or destroyed through constructive and destructive forces. Interim Assessments: Students will be taking interim assessments throughout the year to assess their knowledge over previously taught standards. This week, students will be taking the following assessments. Monday: ELA Interim Assessment Tuesday: Science Interim Assessment The students participated in a virtual science lab this week and got to build electric circuits and electromagnets. Reading: Finding the main idea of a non-fiction text. Writing: We are currently working on our non-fiction writing unit. Students will be writing a research report on Immigration at the Turn of the Century. They are currently in the research phase of the writing process. Social Studies: World War 1 October 30: Storybook Character day
Students should choose a 5th grade appropriate novel. Create an alternate title and new book cover (with a picture). Write a summary of the book on the back. Students can dress up if they'd like.
