Friendly reminder that Storybook Character Day is moved to next Monday, November 2nd and Tuesday, November 3rd will be a teacher workday. There will be no school for students.
What will we be working on next week? On Level Math: Continue Unit 3 - Multiplying decimals using models and the standard algorithm. Advanced Math: Customary Measurement - Converting units of length, mass, and capacity. Reading: Non-Fiction - Main Idea and text structure of non-fiction. Students should find several non-fiction books to have to read during independent reading time. Writing: Informational Writing - Writing a Research Report. Students will be writing a research report about immigration to the United States during the mid 1900s. Social Studies: Introduction to WWII Our Student of the Week this week is Conner Nazon!

We had a great first full week of face to face learning!
October 30: Storybook Character day Students should choose a 5th grade appropriate novel. Create an alternate title and new book cover (with a picture). Write a summary of the book on the back. Students can dress up if they'd like. Next week is Red Ribbon Week! Check the schedule below to see the spirt days! Red Ribbon Week Spirit Days Monday 10/26 – Proud to be Drug Free! Wear red to help kick off Red Ribbon Week! Tuesday 10/27 – Peace Out to Drugs! Wear peace signs and/or tie dye Wednesday 10/28 – Follow Your Dreams! Wear your pajamas! Thursday 10/29 – Team Up Against Drugs! Wear your favorite sports team shirt or jersey Friday 10/30 – My Character Counts! Dress up as your favorite book or movie character (no masks/hoodies/fake weapons) What will we be working on next week? On Level Math: Unit 2 Review. Unit 2 Assessment on Thursday Advanced Math: Customary Measurement - converting measurements Reading: Non-Fiction - Main Idea. Students should find several non-fiction books to have to read during independent reading time. Writing: Informational Writing - Writing a Research Report Social Studies: WWI Propaganda Congratulations to Layne Owens for being our Inquirer/Thinker for the month! Our Student of the Week this week is Sadie Fitzgerald! We had a great start to Phase 5! It was great seeing everyone in the class and our virtual students online too! The kids enjoyed eating lunch outside on Friday!
On Monday, we will have a writing celebration to celebrate the end of our first writing unit. Students may bring in prepackaged treats with them to help us celebrate. We currently have 15 students in the classroom. Please keep in mind that we do have dairy and walnut allergies in the class. THANK YOU! What will we be working on next week? Virtual Curriculum Night: Wednesday at 6:30 pm * Next Wednesday will be asynchronous. Students will log on for morning meeting and then have recorded video lessons or independent activities/assignments for the remainder of the day. What will we be working on next week?
